How to Stop Panic Attacks during Business Meetings

Panic attacks often happen when you are under stress. During work hours you are expected to provide some type of service. This could be helping customers, negotiating contracts, or closing sales.

Being focused at work sometimes means over thinking required tasks. The stress and anxiety before meeting with people can almost be unbearable.

Many times we spend too much time in fear, thinking about future actions. There may be a valid reason to be anxious about these business tasks.

Here are some tips to help stop panic attacks during business meetings.

  1. Step 1

    Stress Management. Take time each day to exercise before work. The action of exercising will release natural chemicals within the body to help you deal with stress.

  2. Step 2

    Perspective. Prepare for the day. If you want to improve how you interact with customers invest in sales training. This could be an inexpensive book on how to better interact with customers, clients, and how to close sales. Take action on the information that you learn. You will start to become better conversing with people, because you are taking action on the sales training.

  3. Step 3

    Notes. If you are expected to say something in a meeting write down two points. Try to have two well planned points to mention. If no one else says anything, simply bring up your points in a structured sentence that brings up a problem and gives a possible solution. You also could simply state specific questions or offer suggestions on a specific topic related to the meeting. That way you sound focused, and are taking an interest in your career.

Tips & Warnings
  • Drink water in a meeting if you feel spacey or your heart begins to race.
  • Feel important. Your thoughts and words are just as important as who ever you are addressing.
