  1. Step 1

First download a worksheet template for your wedding budget or create one using a spreadsheet program like Microsoft Excel.

  2. Step 2

Next make a list of all wedding expenses and list them in category rows down the left side of your budget worksheet.

  3. Step 3

Start with the largest fixed expenses first like the wedding dress, ceremony, reception dinner, limo, hotel expenses, etc.

  4. Step 4

Next list other necessities for the wedding like bridal luncheons, flowers and decorations, favors, invitations, cards, etc. on your budget worksheet.

  5. Step 5

Then make a category at the bottom of your worksheet called emergency budget fund. This category is for any forgotten or underestimated expenses that always show up when planning a wedding.

  6. Step 6

A good rule of thumb is to have at least half the budget as for your wedding necessities category set aside for this worksheet category.

  7. Step 7

Lastly, make sure to have two columns for entering in your budget amounts labeled Proposed Wedding Budget Amount and Actual Wedding Budget Amount.

  8. Step 8

This will allow for any discrepancy to show itself right away when planning your wedding budget allowing you to make adjustments to your worksheet where necessary.
