Make Mitten Ornaments

These Mitten Ornaments are a great craft that will add a nice holiday decoration to your windows or Christmas tree. These are fun for children of all ages and can be fun to look at for years down the road.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

To make your mitten ornaments you will first need to cut out the mitten pattern using a piece of clear acetate.

  2. Step 2

Spray the clear acetate with clear spray adhesive and begin applying tissue paper to create your mittens. Keep in mind the first tissue paper you lay down will be on the front of the mitten ornaments.

  3. Step 3

After you have covered the mitten with tissue paper you will need to allow the glue to dry and trim the edges so that none of the tissue paper is hanging over the edge of the acetate.

  4. Step 4

Finally to make the outline for the mittens you will need to turn the mitten over so that the tissue squares are on the bottom and the shinny acetate is facing upward.

  5. Step 5

Outline the edge of the mitten ornaments with ribbon or a thin strip of tissue paper. Construction paper can also be used if you would prefer a smooth finish on the top of your mitten ornaments.

  6. Step 6

Add a rectangle of contrasting color along the bottom of your mitten to form the cuff. I find that fun foam sheets from a craft store work great for the cuffs but tissue paper or construction paper will work well also.

  7. Step 7

Now attach a four inch ribbon in the form of a loop to create a hanger for the mittens ornaments.

  8. Step 8

As an extra option you can use a glitter pen and write the name and year that the mitten ornament was made. This will give you an inexpensive holiday keepsake!
