Check with any professional association's the business indicates they are associated with. Many associations will have online member lists on their websites.

If you have the business's vin number you may check with the social security office to verify the existence of the business.

Use websites devoted to keeping businesses legit such as scam.com for the company's name and or contact information. Just because something is listed does not mean it is a scam, but it should warn you of any signs to look for.
