Things You'll Need:
- computer
- A Brain
- common sense
- Great writing ability
- Self confidence
-
Step 1
Carefully look over online ads to decide if they are worth taking the risk. Many are just scams to get your money, email address, or to upload a virus onto your computer.
-
Step 2
Do not give money, in any form like a credit card, or pay pal account, to write for a website. They should be paying you in one form or another. Unless it is your website, or blog, the person behind the ad, needs to pay you.
-
Step 3
Detect a scam---- When you are asked to write for less than minimum wage. I'm not talking about the ones where you make ad clicks, although, that can be seriously low also!! I mean the scammy ads where the "publisher" will only pay a buck or two, for you the to write an article.
-
Step 4
Does the ad look okay? When you are looking for your first writing gig to build a portfolio, you may grasp at straws. When the ad says you will be paid thousands of dollars a day while you are sleeping, or hundreds of dollars a day, don't fall prey to it!! The publisher is looking for something, and you don't want to be the bait!!
-
Step 5
Freelance writing ad scams may not be so obvious. Look at the ads. and become familiar with the bad ones and the good. Many just want your money, or you patronage to a site that has nothing to do with writing.
