Things You'll Need:
- Super Glue - any type
- Coffee Filter or Tea Bag
- Scissors
- Nail File
- Wooden Toothpick
- Clear Nail Polish with Nylon
-
Step 1
Nail RepairGather supplies and have everything ready to use.
-
Step 2
Nail RepairRough up the surface of your finger nail around the broken area, with the nail file. Leave the finger nail dust on the surface to help the glue adhere better.
-
Step 3
Nail RepairCut or tear a small section of the coffee filter, or teabag, so that it is a little larger then the area of the finger nail you are repairing.
-
Step 4
Nail RepairSpread super glue all over the surface of the nail, where you want the patch to adhere. For drop on glue, use a good sized drop and spread it around with the tip of the applicator or with a wooden toothpick. For brush on glue, simply brush it on the area to be covered.
-
Step 5
Nail RepairCarefully place the piece of coffee filter or teabag onto the glue. Press it down all over with the toothpick. Make sure that all parts of the paper is glued down, and there are no bubbles or loose edges. See warning below about working with super glue.
-
Step 6
Nail RepairSpread or brush another layer of super glue over the top of the nail repair and check again to make sure no bubbles or lifted edges have formed. If they have, press them down with the toothpick.
-
Step 7
Blow on the repair and keep checking for a good seal until the nail repair is dry.
-
Step 8
File off any rough edges with your nail file.
-
Step 9
Brush clear top coat, or other nail polish to protect nail repair. Nail polish with nylon is the strongest and will help your repair last two-weeks or more. Repeat as needed, until the tear grows out to the point where it can be trimmed off.
