Split ends are an absolute disaster and can ruin a wonderful hairstyle. It can get annoying to go and trim your hair every single time your split ends start to form. Read on to find out how to prevent split ends!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

It's a fact of nature - dry hair will split faster. Moisturize your hair and use leave-in conditioners to keep your hair from getting dry and coarse.

  2. Step 2

Don't brush too often - overbrushing irritates the hair and can cause splits in your hair cuticles.

  3. Step 3

Avoid brushing and combing wet hair - wet hair can stretch as much as 20%, and causes the most split ends.

  4. Step 4

Don't heat-treat or color your hair too often, as it damages and weakens hair, making it brittle and easier to break.

  5. Step 5

When you towel-dry your hair, blot it dry and comb with a wide-toothed shower comb.

  6. Step 6

Give your hair a deep conditioning treatment every week to keep it soft and silky.

  7. Step 7

In addition to all this, make sure you trim those ends AT LEAST every 6 weeks, to stop any split ends from traveling further up your hair.
