Step 1
Winter Wedding Location
Choose the location of the wedding with the guests in mind. If the winter wedding is in a remote location, such as a mountain top, invite a few close relations to the wedding and meet the rest of the guests at the reception. When planning an outdoor winter wedding where there will be many guests make arrangements to ensure:
• The location is not hard to find and getting to it is cleared and well lit.
• All guests, even the elderly or those in wheelchairs, will have access to it.
• There are plenty of seats for the guests. If the chairs are metal be sure to have chair covers to keep the chill away from the guests.
• There is a warm shelter nearby for guests to mingle before the wedding to avoid sitting still and waiting in the chilly air.
• There is an indoor option in case of adverse weather. -
Step 2
Winter Weddings Can Heat Up
There are ways to keep everyone warm while adding to the ambiance of a winter wedding.
• The wedding favors for a winter wedding can be throws for the guests to use if they get cold. Use the wedding colors and the guests will become part of the wedding décor.
• Have bonfires strategically placed around the wedding venue. If bonfires are not allowed bring in propane heating units.
• If electricity is available heat lamps will provide a warmth for the wedding ceremony venue. -
Step 3
Winter Wedding Ceremony - Outdoors
The length of the wedding should be twenty minutes or less. If your religious wedding ceremony will be longer ensure there is plenty of throws and heat so your guests will enjoy the ceremony instead of thinking about how chilled they are getting. Be sure that the ceremony starts on time. When the music begins, indicating guests should take their seats, the wedding should begin within 5-10 minutes -
Step 4
Indoor Winter Weddings
The temperature is warm where the wedding vows are being made yet everyone will need to go from that venue to the reception. Some preparation suggestions include:
• Prepare for inclement weather and make transportation arrangements for guests to get from one location to the other.
• Have the wedding ceremony and wedding reception at the same location.
• Make sure there are plenty of parking spots available, and accessible, at both locations.
• There will be many bulky coats. Ensure there are sufficient coat racks to accommodate them.
• Provide a mat for guests to wipe their shoes on as they enter both venues. This will avoid the floor becoming wet and slippery.
