Coffee grounds are amazing at absorbing odors from enclosed areas.

Most of the time cleaning the inside of a car is a fairly straight forward process, but what if there is a rancid smell that simply won't go away and is too strong to ignore? No worries - there is a way to get out almost any smell no matter how noxious. Read on to learn how to remove terrible odors from your car.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small tub
  • Coffee grinds
  • Vacuum
  1. Step 1

Vacuum the car out thoroughly. Use soap and water and the same type of vacuums that clean carpet if need be.

  2. Step 2

Dust the car, and use normal cleaning methods to get it as spotless as possible.

  3. Step 3

If the car still stinks, you need to get a plastic tub and fill it with unused coffee grounds. The type of coffee doesn't matter, just fill a tub with a lot of these coffee grinds and set it in the area by the back window.

  4. Step 4

Keep the coffee there for two to three weeks. The coffee is not only a pleasant smell that can help to overpower the bad, but coffee also absorbs an amazing amount of bad odors.

  5. Step 5

After three weeks remove the coffee and spend a few days driving. If the smell returns, repeat this whole process. Before long the coffee and cleaning will remove virtually any smell - this technique has been used to clean up cars that were considered virtually unsellable because of the smell alone.
