Bed Sore Treatment Directions
-
1
Keep pressure off of a sore area, and keep the body part away from friction. Stop causing the blood flow problem and avoid irritating the wound.
-
2
Keep sore clean and dry. Any moisture helps bacteria grow in the wound.

3
Remove dead skin and dirt. Clean off all dead skin and dirt with soap and water. Take time to rub off all dead skin. Any skin pieces that do not come off with cleaning need to be cut off with scissors or clippers.
-
4
Clean wound with a saline solution. Apply saline solution to the area and scrub. The saline clears out the bad fluids and dead skin remaining in the wound.
-
5
Apply a bandage. Protect the cleansed wound from infection, irritation and pressure by covering the area with a clean bandage.
-
6
If the wound becomes infected, treat the area for bacteria with antibiotic ointment. Then, cover with a clean gauze.
-
7
Change bandages and clean out dead skin and dirt regularly. Keep wound area moist and the surrounding skin area dry. A daily change improves healing. Within two to four weeks, the wound begins to heal.

Tips & Warnings
Eat well to support a fast healing process. Zinc and Vitamins A, C, E and B complex help the skin heal.
Keep circulation in the area constantly strong. Move regularly and engage in light activity. Good blood flow is one of the keys to fast healing.
If a bed sore is in the muscle or bone and the sore becomes infected, call a doctor. Untreated infections can spread to large areas.
