Using a foam mattress topper can breathe new life into an old bed for a fraction of the cost. Foam is ideal as a mattress topper as it conforms to the body, making your bed soft enough to be comfortable while helping to support your joints. Foam mattress toppers come in multiple forms ranging from Memory foam to the basic 'egg crate' foam. Foam toppers are inexpensive enough to replace frequently if they lose their shape.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remove all bedding from the bed, including sheets and mattress pad.

  2. Step 2

Place the foam mattress topper on the bare mattress, and line up the corners. Trim the edges if needed. They should be flush with the edge of the mattress.

  3. Step 3

Place the mattress pad if needed, and replace the fitted sheet. Be careful not to pull the mattress topper out of its placing.

  4. Step 4

Continue to make the bed as usual.
