How to Install a Crib Bumper Guard
The installation of a crib bumper guard is an important step when transitioning your newborn into a crib. The crib bumper guard protects your baby from bumping her head on the crib bars or getting his arms and legs stuck in between the crib bars. To ensure the crib bumper guard is installed properly and secure, a few simple steps should be followed.

1
Place the crib bumper guard along the inside of the crib on top of the mattress to ensure it covers the entire area of the crib. Most crib bumpers are one long piece, but if yours is four pieces, set the pieces up to fit in the crib properly.
-
2
Tuck the crib bumper about a half-inch into the mattress to avoid the suffocation due to the baby getting caught under the bumper.

3
Begin at the corner of the crib and attach the ties around the crib post. Be sure to double knot the ties to ensure they do not come untied if the baby moves a lot. Continue to knot the ties until you reach the end of the bumper or all pieces are securely attached to the crib posts.

4
Check the newly tied knots and make sure the strings are short enough they cannot strangle the baby. If you the strings are too long, cut them to a proper size.
-
5
Ensure that the newly installed crib bumper guard is securely in place and will not be pulled away if the baby moves.
