Turmeric and its extracts are anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antifungal, making them useful in treating conditions from boils to carpal tunnel syndrome. Instructions

    • 1

Mix a gram of ground turmeric with enough water to form a paste. For an extra powerful poultice, add some curcumin extract in with the turmeric. Curcumin is one of the most effective components in turmeric.

    • 2

Mix in any other medicinal herbs you wish to use. If you are treating pain or inflammation, you may want to add capsicum or ground ginger.

    • 3

Spread the paste between two strips of gauze. Put the gauze on the area you want to treat.

    • 4

Cover the gauze with an elastic bandage. Depending on what part of your body you are wrapping, you may have to tape it on with medical tape.

    • 5

Change the turmeric poultice at least once a day. Turmeric can be used safely for as long as you need it.
