Handi-Foam is a quick-curing polyurethane spray foam. If you accidently get Handi-Foam on your bare skin, you should take action quickly. Handi-Foam dries within minutes. Once dried, it is very difficult to remove--in most cases you will have to wait for it to wear off. Handi foam can be removed (before it has dried) with acetone (an ingredient in fingernail polish remover and in the product "Handi-Foam Cleaner"); however, acetone is generally not recommended for use on skin. Fomo Products, the company behind Handi-Foam, offers another, safer recommendation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dry cloth
  • Water
  • Soap
  • Lotion
  1. Step 1

Wipe as much foam off your hands as you can with a dry cloth first--as suggested by the maker of Handi-Foam in the warning section of its technical data sheet. Do this as soon as you discover the product has gotten on your hands.

  2. Step 2

Rinse your hands under running water. Apply soft, liquid hand soap and lather it well.

  3. Step 3

Rinse the soap off your hands. Repeat washing the skin with soap and water if any Handi-Foam remains (unless it has already dried on the skin).

  4. Step 4

Pat your hands dry with a soft cloth. Fomo Products recommends applying a hand lotion after you wash your hands.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear rubber or vinyl gloves when handling Handi-Foam to avoid skin contact.
  • Applying hand lotion after washing may reduce irritation on your skin.
  • Avoid touching your face or rubbing your eyes until you've washed the foam off your hands.
  • If the foam has already dried on your hands, do not attempt to pull it off. Your skin may be pulled off with it. The product will wear off eventually.
