How to Remove Laundry Stains Naturally

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of laundry care products on the market. Along with plain old laundry soap, you can also buy everything from pre-treaters to spot removers to whitening boosters. If you are concerned about the chemicals you are using on your family's clothing and linens, not to mention what you are washing down the drain and into your water system, you do have other options. There are many natural ways to remove stains from your laundry.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • Table salt
  • Whole milk
  • White vinegar
  • Sponge or soft bristled nylon brush

    Remove Blood Stains Naturally

  1. Step 1

    Run cold water through the stain as soon as you can. Rinse out as much of the blood as possible.

  2. Step 2

    Pour a liberal amount of table salt onto the blood stain.

  3. Step 3

    Rub the salt into the stain and then rinse it off with cold water.

  4. Step 4

    Soak the item in a bowl of milk for several hours or overnight. Launder as usual.

  5. Remove Grass Stains Naturally

  6. Step 1

    Spray or pour a mixture of equal parts cool water and white vinegar directly into or through the grass stain.

  7. Step 2

    Scrub the vinegar mixture into the stain using a damp sponge or a nylon, soft-bristled brush.

  8. Step 3

    Rinse the stain with plain, cool water.

  9. Step 4

    Launder as usual.

  10. Remove Coffee or Tea Stains Naturally

  11. Step 1

    Combine a teaspoon of white vinegar with one quart of cold water.

  12. Step 2

    Sponge the mixture directly onto the stain.

  13. Step 3

    Sprinkle baking soda onto a damp sponge.

  14. Step 4

    Scrub the baking soda into the coffee or tea stain.

  15. Step 5

    Wash the item in the laundry immediately to prevent any lingering stain from setting in.

  16. Remove Grease Stains Naturally

  17. Step 1

    Make a paste by adding one part water to three parts baking soda.

  18. Step 2

    Apply the paste directly to the grease stains on your laundry.

  19. Step 3

    Rub the paste into the stain and allow it to penetrate for a few hours or overnight.

  20. Step 4

    Wash the laundry as usual, adding 1/2 to 1 cup of baking soda to the washer.

  21. Remove Sweat Stains Naturally

  22. Step 1

    Sprinkle the sweat stain with white vinegar.

  23. Step 2

    Rub the vinegar into the sweat stain with a sponge.

  24. Step 3

    Make a paste by adding one part water to three parts baking soda.

  25. Step 4

    Apply the paste directly to the sweat stain.

  26. Step 5

    Rub the paste into the stain and allow it to penetrate for a few hours or overnight. Wash the laundry as usual, adding 1/2 to 1 cup of baking soda to the washer.
