How to Block a Website With Categories for Employees

You already block white- and black-listed websites from your employees' computers. This includes any websites not considered work related. Now all you need to do is also block the websites with categories. This ensures that your employees do not accidentally download malicious files that can find their way into your company network. Categories are pop-ups, peer-to-peer file sharing, freeware or software downloads, and instant messages.

Instructions

    • 1

Open WFilter and let it completely load. This is the program you already use to block white/blacklist websites from your employees' browsers. It will also block websites with categories.

    • 2

Select Web tab in the Blocking Level Settings. Type "blocking web" in the Level Name text box and "website category rule" in the Level Desc text box. Doing this opens the sections you need to apply the Web Category Rule on your network and prevents employees from accessing any websites with categories.

Ensure that the check box next to "Enable Web Category Rule" is checked. In the drop-down box next to this select "New." Save all changes. Now all websites with categories are blocked.
