Instructions

    • 1

Turn off all the electricity at the main circuit breaker box that runs to the outlet to be replaced. Using the electrical meter, test the line to ensure all the power is off.

    • 2

Remove the cover plate on the outlet and the electrical receptacle using the screwdriver. Discard the outlet.

    • 3

Pull the electrical wire out a couple of inches out of the electrical box to allow access. Cut the ends of wire off to start with fresh wiring.

    • 4

Strip the insulation off each of the wires where needed about half an inch. Black (hot), White (neutral), Green (ground).

    • 5

Looking at the back of the 220 receptacle, connect the black wire to the brass screw on the right side, connect the white wire to the silver screw on the left side, and the green wire to the green screw on the bottom. Make sure all the screws and connections are snug.

    • 6

Mount the 220 receptacle back in the outlet box using the screws. Mount the cover plate over the outlet.

    • 7

Turn the power back on at the breaker box. Using the electrical meter, carefully test the line to ensure the outlet has power flowing through it.
