1
Choose the plates. You most likely have more than one set of plates that you would like out of your cabinet and displayed. You can have one set on the wall or you can do a mix and match of multiple sets. Take your cues from the colors in the room. The plates and the colors in the room should complement each other, not clash.

2
Select a location. You can always take plates away or add more onto the wall, but there is only so much space. Choose a location that is preferably eye level or higher up where you can easily reach them when you need them. They should be away from the stove's area where they can get dirty as steam rises and food splatters. In addition, keep them away from direct sunlight to avoid distorted coloration.

3
Decide on the number of plates to display. If you have a larger area, you can display as many plates as you wish. If you only have limited room, you may want to stick to three or four, which is a small enough amount but large enough to have a full effect.

4
Pick a display pattern. You can hang your plates in any pattern you wish; however, some patterns, such as vertical, horizontal, four square or zigzag, are easy to work with and create a clean design. Have a friend or two help to hold the dishes up in the pattern to get an idea of what it will look like before you make holes in the wall.

Choose a base. You can put the plates standing on a shelf that has a groove. Another option is to put them on a vertical or horizontal set of hangers where you can put multiple plates. For a zigzag pattern, individual hangers would be your best option. Some hangers are ornate with designs and some are plain so you can find the perfect one to complement the plates and the room.
