Fill your hummingbird feeder to the top with cool nectar. Because the feeder operates on a vacuum principal, it is important that the feeder is completely full before the stopper is replaced.

Insert the lid.

Turn the feeder upside down as soon as the lid is on. This will prevent any air from entering the area between the stopper and the nectar. A vacuum will be created, keeping the liquid from escaping through the feeder tube until it is drawn out through suction by the hummingbird's beak.

Hang the full feeder in a shady area to keep it from getting too warm. The feeder is less likely to drip if the nectar remains cool.
