How to Import Contacts on a Blackberry Storm
Synchronizing contacts from your computer to your BlackBerry phone is a simple and convenient process that allows you to import contacts without retyping each one. By default, BlackBerry phones rely on the BlackBerry Desktop Software to synchronize contacts and other information such as calendars and tasks from email applications such as Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express. Using some guided instructions, importing contacts on your BlackBerry Storm proves to be a simple process.

Download and install the BlackBerry Desktop Software, if you do not already have it on your computer (see Resources). This default BlackBerry management software allows you to synchronize contacts from other applications to your BlackBerry phone.

Launch the BlackBerry Desktop software once you complete the installation and connect your BlackBerry Storm to the computer using the supplied USB cable. Your application automatically recognizes it.

Click the "Synchronize" button and place a check on the "Synchronize organizer data" check-box. Click the "Configuration" tab and click "Configure synch."

Click "Choose" under "Address Book" and select the email application you want to synchronize contacts from. You can choose from applications such as Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express.

Place a check on "Address Book" under "Handheld Applications" to transfer contacts from your applications address book. You can select additional categories such as calender or tasks if your want to transfer additional information from the email application to your phone. Click "OK" to save the changes.

Place a check on the "Synchronize the items selected above automatically when your device is connected to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager" check-box to automatically transfer content in the future.

Click "Synchronize Now." The contacts and additional content you selected are sychronized from the email application you selected, to your BlackBerry Storm.
