Even the best-laid bricks will get some grass or weeds growing up between the bricks. There are two ways to kill grass between bricks. You could lift all of the bricks to put down plastic sheeting, or you could use one or both of these methods to kill grass between the bricks or pavers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Trowel
  • Vinegar
  • Watering can
  1. Step 1

Pull the grass out of the brick joints. Use the trowel to get the stubborn grass roots. If you can't get all of the grass or roots out from between the bricks, that is fine.

  2. Step 2

Pour boiling water into each joint. Do this to all of the joints to catch any new growth that you might not see. The boiling water is going to burn the grass and the roots.

  3. Step 3

Wait for two days after pouring boiling water on the joints. Use a watering can to pour vinegar into all of the brick joints that you poured boiling water into. The vinegar works as a sterilizer to purify the soil and grass, and weeds will not grow.

  4. Step 4

Repeat these steps every spring. Two good soakings a year should provide enough sterilization and burning to prevent anything from growing.
