Lawn fertilizer can become quite expensive, so why not make it yourself? Like most humans, grass loves beer as it is full of nutrients and carbohydrates. Mix in a little molasses, water, ammonia and dish soap and you have yourself a grass-feeding machine that will get your lawn back to that luxurious green. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 5-gallon bucket
  • 6 cups water
  • 3 cups beer, Epsom salt, ammonia, liquid dish soap, molasses

      Mix together 6 cups of tap water with 3 cups of beer. Beer is essential for the grass to get the most nutrients into its root system.

      Heat the mixture in a pot until it nearly gets to a boil, and add 3 cups of Epsom salt. Take the mixture off of the heat and stir to help the salt dissolve.

      Pour the mixture into a 5-gallon bucket and add 3 cups of ammonia and 3 cups liquid dish soap into the mixture and stir well. Add the last 3 cups of molasses.

      Place the fertilizer into a watering device that enables you to easily spread it over the lawn. Apply the fertilizer every three weeks to a month to let your grass take in the nutrients without getting burnt.
