How to Use Bissell Steam Cleaners
Bissell has become a household name over the past century, producing quality vacuums and steam cleaners. Although Bissell manufactures a wide variety of carpet cleaners, their most popular models include the Bissell PROheat, PowerSteamer Powerbrush and PowerLifter Powerbrush. Lift up on the carrying handle of the two-in-one tank to remove it from the base. Carry it to the sink and remove the lid.

Turn the tank over to reveal the built-in measuring cup. Pour a Bissell cleaning formula into the measuring cup to the indicator line, then pour the solution into the mouth of the bladder. Fill the bladder the remainder of the way with hot water.

Place the handle in the forward position to replace the lid. Shift the handle to the carrying position to secure the lid. Put the tank back into the base of the steam cleaner.

Plug the machine into an electrical outlet. Place the Ready Tools knob in the "Floor Cleaning" position.

Use your foot to turn the power on by the red switch on the back of the machine. Place the heater switch, which is located on the side of the machine, to the "On" position. Wait one full minute for the heater to warm up.

Detent the handle by pressing the gray handle release lever located at the back of the machine with your foot.

Begin cleaning by holding down the spray trigger. Simultaneously pass over an area of carpet forward and backward. Do this slowly.

Make another forward and backward pass over the same area of carpet, this time with the spray trigger released. This will remove any dirty water from the carpet.

Continue making one wet pass forward and backward, then a dry pass forward and backward until the carpet appears clean. Repeat dry passes over the same area of carpet until no more water is being sucked up into the machine.

Lay down the handle of the steam cleaner by pressing the handle release lever with your foot. This lever is located on the back of the cleaner and will expose the two-in-one water tank.

Lift the tank out of the machine by the carrying handle. Carry it to a sink and remove the lid.

Turn the tank over to expose the built-in measuring cup. Fill the measuring cup with a Bissell cleaning formula up to the indicator line. Pour the formula into the mouth of the bladder. Fill the bladder the rest of the way with hot water.

Place the handle in the forward position to replace the lid. Move the handle to the carrying position to secure the lid. Put the tank back into the base of the steam cleaner.

Lift the handle of the steam cleaner to the upright position. Plug the machine into an electrical outlet and turn the power switch to "On." The power switch is located on the back of the deep cleaner.

Push the handle release lever with your foot. The lever is located on the back, lower portion of the machine.

Hold down the spray trigger and go over one area of carpet forward and backward. Do this slowly.

Make another pass forward and backward over the same area of carpet, this time with the spray trigger released. This will suck up any dirty water from the carpet.

Continue making wet then dry passes over the entire carpeted area. Repeat dry passes over each area of carpet until no more water is being sucked into the machine.
