How to Run a Timer on a Pool Filter

Saving money is always a good thing. And with the already high costs of maintaining a swimming pool, every little bit saved helps. So, in order to decrease your energy consumption and costs, you can use a timer for your pool filter. You should set these time intervals differently depending on the season and usage. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Set a constant-run timer in the summer months. This will cause the timer to run during the same time every day. A constant-run timer allows you to set the pool filtration system to run at specific times during the day or night to keep your pool cleaner.

Set the timer so that the run time is gradually shortened beginning at least by July. This will ensure that your pool is filtered a little less each month as usage decreases. When you are using your pool less often, it requires less filtering of the pool waters. Decreasing filtration causes the filter to not run as often and saves unnecessary energy costs.

Set your timer to run at least five fewer hours in the winter months. This will save tremendously on your energy bills. If you do not use your pool during the winter months, you will not need your filtration system to run as much.

However, you will need to change this setting if you add a heater filter pump to your pool for winter usage.
