How to Clean a HEPA Filter on a Hoover

1
Power off the vacuum cleaner and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet to protect yourself from the risk of electric shock.

2
Remove the dirt cup and tap the side of the container to knock dirt and debris loose from the HEPA filter. Empty the contents of the dirt cup into the trash.
-
-
3
Remove the HEPA filter cartridge from the dirt cup. Set the dirt cup aside.
-
4
Hold the HEPA filter above a garbage can and tap the end of the filter against the inside of the can to knock the dust and debris loose. Be sure to tap only the sturdy ends of the HEPA filter cartridge against the can and not the soft pleated sides to avoid permanent damage to the HEPA filter.
-
5
Use a whisk broom to help remove any dust that does not come loose with tapping. Brush lightly with the whisk broom to avoid deforming the pleated sides of the HEPA filter.
-
6
Reinstall the HEPA filter cartridge into the dirt cup and replace the cup back into the vacuum.
