Save money in four ways that are proven to work. Everyone could use a little more money in these tough economic times. Here are four ways to do so.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

To save money visit your library instead of your local book and video store. Public libraries have FREE videos, DVDs, CDs, books, magazines and more. You can save lots of money per year depending on how many books you purchase and how many videos and magazines you purchase. Why buy what you can get for free?

  2. Step 2

Save money by recycling your favorite greeting cards. you can cut the inside message half of the card off and use the front cover as a post card instead. This will save you money from the purchase and postage of the card. Obviously they are pretty because someone created them, sold them to a card company and someone special bought it and sent it to you. Quality and savings - you can't beat it.

  3. Step 3

Plug as many of your power chords as possible into a power strip and turn them all off when you go to bed at night or leave for work for eight hours each day. You can save money - hundreds of dollars a year this way.

  4. Step 4

Purchase store brands over nationally-known brands. You can save money at a rate of 20-40% depending on the item. You and your family will not be able to taste the difference and nutritionally they are all the same.

Tips & Warnings
  • Shop and compare to find the best prices on everything.
  • If you save money, know what you need to spend it on - reinvest in yourself, don't just throw the extra money away.
