Things You'll Need:
- 6 large red potatoes (skin on)
- 1/8 cup butter or margarine
- 1/4 cup milk
- Garlic salt
- Garlic powder
- Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup ranch dressing
- Pinch of salt and pepper
- Medium sauce pot
- Large mixing bowl
- Electric mixer or mashed potato smashing utensil
- Sharp knife
- Strainer
-
Step 1
Wash the 6 red potatoes well under cool water and scrub with hands. Cut potatoes into cubes (with skin on) and set aside. Fill a medium sized sauce pot about 3/4 way with water. Place potato cubes in water and heat on high heat until boiling. Boil the potatoes for approximately 10-15 minutes after boiling starts.
-
Step 2
Remove boiled potatoes from heat and strain in a plastic strainer or colander. Put warm potatoes into a large mixing bowl. Stir in the butter and 1/4 cup of milk. Mash potatoes with a smashing utensil or blend on medium low with electric mixer until mostly smooth. Mixture will have a few lumps which is actually good.
-
Step 3
Add a few dashes of garlic salt, garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, and a pinch of salt and pepper to potatoes. Mix as above. Stir in 1/2 cup of ranch dressing and mix again with electric beater or mashing utensil. Add more ranch dressing if desired. Serves about 4 people.
