Things You'll Need:
- pinata
- candies
- party favors
- small toys
- scissors (optional)
-
Step 1
Open the pinata -
Many pinatas will have a small area that reads "open here" or something similar. Follow instructions if the pinata come with them. If there is no "open here" area, then make your own opening on the back of the pinata (make sure it is somewhere where the hole will not be very noticeable). Using a scissors, make a smallish half circle (U shape) opening and pull the cut area towards you to make an opening. -
Step 2
Fill with safe candies for children -
Next, you will want to fill the pinata with candies and other goodies. Choose candies that are safe for children. Be careful of small candies and hard candies. Be especially careful for very young children. -
Step 3
Fill a pinata with candies that will last inside the pinata -
Try to stick with candies that will not run, stick or melt. Candies that are individually wrapped are a good option. Avoid chocolates that will melt in the heat. -
Step 4
Fill pinata with small toys -
Children also enjoy small toys or party favors inside the pinata. Remember again, for young children especially, to avoid toys that are too small. Buy small toys in bulk for pinatas. -
Step 5
Make sure to stuff the pinata with enough candies and toys for all children -
Make sure there is enough candy and toys for all the children at the party. If you have children of different ages, the older children might steal all the treats and leave none for the small children. In this case, you may want to leave some candies and toys on the side to give out to the small children who did not get from the pinata itself. -
Step 6
Do not over stuff the pinata -
If you want the pinata game to last longer, instead of stuffing the pinata too much, you can throw extra candies onto the floor as the children are picking up the candies from the pinata. -
Step 7
Stuff the pinata with filling that matches the pinata -
You can get creative and stuff the pinata with candies and toys that match the pinata or party theme. For example, if the pinata is in the shape of a horse, you can fill with miniature horse figurines and small shoe horse shaped magnets.
