Step 1
SLEEP ON YOUR SIDE
Believe it or not one of the classic reasons why people snore is because they sleep lying on their backs. Lying on your back can cause a curling of the tongue making if flap back and forth. Simply sleeping on your side can resolve this issue if you are mild or new snorer. -
Step 2
REDUCE NASAL CONGESTION
If you are congested all the air tends to be routed through the esophagus this increases air pressure making you more likely to snore. One solution is to breathe in steam through a humidifier while being cloaked by a towel. The steam loosens the mucus membranes allowing you to breathe more freely through your nose and your mouth. Reduced nasal congestion before bedtime often leads to less snoring. -
Step 3
USE NASAL STRIPS
At first I was not a big believer in this until I had one of my roommates who snores really bad try it out. These strips help lift the mucus membranes apart so that you can breathe more freely through your nose while sleeping. Great little invention usually works like a charm for mild snorers. -
Step 4
LOOSE SOME WEIGHT
Most overweight individuals have an extra layer of thick neck tissue, which puts added pressure through the aid of gravity on the esophagus. This added pressure increases the risk of snoring. The interesting thing about overweight snorers’ is that you only really have to loose 10% of your body weight to see a dramatic reduction in your snoring habits.
