Making your own food from scratch is becoming more and more popular as the economy keeps getting worse for wear.

This recipe is a basic one, that can be used for making chocolate, strawberry or vanilla frosting.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Box of 10X Confectioners sugar
  • one stick of margarine (not the spreadable kind)
  • 3-6 teaspoons of very cold milk
  • 1/4 tsp of vanilla
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Hand mixer
  • Rubber or silicon spatula
  1. Step 1

Place margarine on counter for approximately 30 minutes or more to soften. Place in bowl along with 1/3 box of sugar and begin mixing on low until the butter is in small clumps.

  2. Step 2

Add 1-2 teaspoons of cold milk and continue mixing, making sure to scrape the sides of the bowl with your spatula to ensure all sugar is used.

  3. Step 3

Add more sugar and continue blending. If it gets too thick, add another teaspoon of milk and continue blending.

  4. Step 4

Finish adding all the sugar and blend until smooth. Increase mixer to medium speed and whip the frosting for about another minute or two. Increase speed to high and whip for a few more seconds to 'fluff up'.

  5. Step 5

Use immediately on cooled cupcakes or cake, refrigerate any leftovers.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can add vanilla extract, unsweeetened cocoa powder or unsweetened strawberry koolaid to taste, but go easy, less is more!
