How to Turn a Closet Into a Study & Storage Area
Some people need every last inch of their closet space for storage. Others may be using what they think is every available inch, but with a bit of reorganization and a few storage solutions, they would have plenty of space to spare. If you fall into the latter category, or if you don't have a storage problem in the first place, that leftover space can make an excellent study area or office. Does this Spark an idea?

- Under-bed storage box
- Desk
- Desk lamp
- Power strip
- Extension cord
- Shelves
- Second clothing rod
- Over the door storage

Empty your closet.

Donate or throw away unnecessary or unused items and clothing. If you have room under your bed, transfer some of the remaining items into an under-bed box.

Place a small desk and chair in the emptied closet, on one side, the study side.

Set up your light. Add any shelving, computer equipment or other materials that you want your study area to have. If you don't have a power outlet in your closet, you will need a power strip and an extension cord.

Install shelving, over-the-door storage, hooks, a second clothing rod and use boxes to maximize storage on the closet side if necessary. Replace the stored items in the closet, giving the study area at least a foot clearance. Clearly label anything that is not completely visible.

Tips & Warnings
Consider using different color schemes for the two sides, such as using light colors for the storage side furniture and dark colors for the study side furniture.
Keep both areas organized at all times to preserve the demarcation between them. If using an extension cord keep it against the wall to prevent tripping.
