How to Convert Corel to Word

If you are familiar with Microsoft Word, you can quickly learn how to use WordPerfect. Its user friendly look and feel makes it convenient for students, professionals and people from all walks of life. Converting your Corel WordPerfect document to Microsoft Word takes only a few steps. If you have received an email attachment with a Corel WordPerfect document but do not have the program, do not fret. You can open it in Microsoft Word and work with the file.

Step 1

Open Microsoft Word. Select File > Open. In the Open dialog box, select "All Files" under "Files of Type" to display all files, including non-Word documents.

Browse to locate the Corel WordPerfect file you want to open and double-click it. The WordPerfect file extension is "WPD." The file will open in Microsoft Word for you. Quickly check through the document to make sure that the text looks okay and does not have any glitches.

Convert the Corel file to Word by resaving the file as a Microsoft Word document. Choose File > Save As from the menu. In the "Save As" dialog box, change the "Save As Type" to Word Document "DOC" or "DOCX." Click "Save."

Close the newly saved file. Your document is now a Word file. You can reopen the file in Word now without any problems.
