Flatulence, or farting, is a byproduct of the body's inability to absorb all fibers and carbohydrates. The smell associated with flatulence is typically a sulfur compound as well as bacteria in meat and eggs. Changing diet can curb flatulence at the source, while smelly emissions after the fact can be curtailed with simple home remedies.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Candles
  • Matches
  • Fruit
  • Fennel
  • Garlic
  • Peppermint oil or leaves
  • Digestive enzymes in tablet form
  1. Step 1

Consume yogurt to neutralize bacteria in the intestines and improve digestion.

  2. Step 2

Add fennel seed and garlic to recipes in quantities suited to individual taste. Both fennel and garlic curb flatulence by absorbing gas-producign compunds in the digestive tract.

  3. Step 3

Add a drop of peppermint oil to beverages such as hot teat, or chew peppermint leaves to control flatulence smell.

  4. Step 4

Eat a balanced diet consisting of more fresh fruit while consuming less meat, eggs, pork and beans.

  5. Step 5

Take enzyme pills to improve digestion. Tablets are available at pharmacies, health-good stores and many groceries under various brand names.

  6. Step 6

Stop flatulence smell after the fact by lighting a match immediately after passing gas. The flame burns off gasses and the smells associated with them.

  7. Step 7

Leave a scented candle burning in bathrooms, especially when entertaining guests or throwing a party.
