Instructions

    • 1

Cut a hole that is about one-and-a-half to two inches in diameter in the bottom of a plastic or metal bucket. File down the edges to make sure they are not sharp.

    • 2

Create three smaller holes on three sides of the bucket. Weave the string through the three holes. Leave enough slack to hang the bucket up.

    • 3

Remove the tomato plant from its carton. String its roots through the hole on the bottom of the bucket into the inside of the bucket. Pack your cardboard filling around the plant on the inside of the bucket to keep it stable.

    • 4

Flip the bucket upside down and sprinkle dirt into it until it is full. Do not pack the soil down as the plant needs air to breath. Water the soil until it begins to drip through the other side of the bucket.

    • 5

Hang the bucket with the string overhead so the bucket hangs upside down. Hang the bucket from any outdoor ceiling hook.
