1
Remove any wood finish by sanding with the 80-grit sandpaper. You must remove the wood finish to get to the stain for removal.
-
2
Dissolve half a cup of wood bleach in a quart of warm water. Stir with a wooden spoon in a sturdy plastic container. Do not use the container or spoon for anything else, since wood bleach is toxic.
-
-
3
Apply a small spoonful of wood bleach to the stain. Spread it evenly over the stain with the brush and let it soak for three to five hours.
-
4
Wipe away the wood bleach and check if the stain is completely faded. If not, apply wood bleach again for half the time. Wipe away and rinse thoroughly.
-
5
Mix a cup of water with half a cup of white wine or apple cider vinegar (darker vinegars will stain the wood). Soak a soft cloth in the solution and apply to the previously stained area. This will neutralize the wood bleach.
-
6
Allow the area to dry for at least 24 hours before refinishing. Direct a small box fan, set on a high setting, at the damp spot to aid drying.
