Sleeping problems are a concern. Most people do not receive the 8 to 10 hours required per night because of discomfort. If you wedge a pillow under your back, it may help you to get a good night's sleep. Under certain medical conditions, a doctor may advise putting a pillow under the small of your back to relieve pain or irritation. It is important to properly place the pillow so additional harm does not occur.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Firm pillow
  1. Step 1

Buy a spinal back or firm pillow. The spinal back pillow such as Memory Foam or Hudson Medical Snore-N-More Pillow curves to fit your back's groove. A firm pillow such as Canopy Down Alternative or Nobility Extra-Firm Pillow contorts to fit your specific shape.

  2. Step 2

Place the pillow on the bed. Lay down on top to adjust. If the pillow is too low or high, stand up and change the position. Repeat until you are comfortable.

  3. Step 3

Stand up and get a flat pillow. Put it down at the top of the pillow under your back. This is for head comfort and support. Lay down again. Alter the position of both pillows until you are comfortable.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have back problems or are pregnant, ask a health care provider before sleeping on a pillow.
  • You may need to try several different firm or spinal pillows before you find comfort.
