How to Convert a CD Video to DVD
Many people believe that the DVD replaced the videocassette. It's not well known that there was a video format between the two called VCD. This used a CD disc that could play in a computer. Converting a CD video into a DVD will make it compatible with DVD players as well as today's computers.
Things You'll Need
- Windows-based computer
- IsoBuster software
- Nero software
- DVD recordable drive
- Blank, recordable DVD disc

Converting the CD Video Disc to DVD Format

Download and install the free IsoBuster program to the computer's desktop. Restart the computer.
Insert the CD video disc into the computer's DVD drive.

Run the IsoBuster program. Select the DVD drive from the column on the left side of the program. Locate the folder labeled with a red ISO logo, and press the "+" to expand the column.
Select the MPEGAV folder that is now revealed in the column. Select the video to convert that is in the column on the right side of the program. The video file will have a ".dat" at the end of its name.

Right-click on the video file, and select "Extract But Filter Only M2F2 MPEG Frames" from the drop-down menu that appears. Release the menu.

Put in a new name with a ".MPG" at the end in the "File name" column in the window that now appears. Press the "Save" button at the right side of the window to convert the CD video to a format acceptable for putting on a DVD.

Return to the column with the ".dat" files, and select another video to convert. Repeat the procedure to convert this video file. Continue doing this until all the video files from the CD video disc have been converted.
Quit the IsoBuster program. Eject the CD video disc.
Making the DVD

Download and install the Nero program to the desktop of the computer. Restart the computer.
Put a blank, recordable DVD disc into the computer's DVD drive.

Run the Nero program, and click on the Video tab in the Nero StartSmart interface.

Click on the "Make DVD" in Nero Startsmart. Click on the "Add" button in the "My DVD" window that appears, and navigate to where the .MPG video files are. Highlight each .MPG video file by clicking on it while holding down the Shift key. Click the "Finished" button to close the window and load in the .MPG files.

Click on the "Next" button to bring up the Burn settings. Set the copies to be made to "1," and close the window by pressing the "OK" button.

Click on the "Burn" button. The program will now burn the video files onto the DVD.
Quit the Nero program when the files have been copied to the DVD disc. Eject the DVD disc.

Tips & Warnings
Use a duplicate of the CD video file for the copy process to DVD. If there is a corruption or problem during the conversion, the original video file will be untouched.
The lower resolution of the CD video will not change just because it has been transferred to a DVD.
