How to Clean Mildew on Reglazed Bathtubs

Occasionally you may need to reglaze your bathtub or shower. This is typically due to chips, cracks and other damage done to the porcelain of the tub. However, just because you have reglazed the tub does not mean it is immune to mildew. If you do see mildew begin to appear in your bathtub, you need to clean and remove it as soon as possible to keep it from spreading and infecting more of your bathroom. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Baking soda
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • White vinegar
  • Sponge
  • Toothbrush

      Combine 1-2/3 cups of baking soda with 1/2 cup of dishwashing liquid, 1/2 cup of water and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar.

      Dip a sponge into your solution and rub it over the porcelain bathtub where the mildew is growing. Scrub the area thoroughly to remove all of the mildew.

      Combine 1/2 cup of baking soda with 1/2 cup of bleach. Put on cleaning gloves before using the bleach.

      Dip a toothbrush into the bleach mixture and scrub the grout or caulk around the bathtub. Mildew most often is going to appear around this area of the bathtub.

      Allow the baking soda and bleach mixture to sit on the grout and caulk for a few minutes before removing it with water. Thoroughly rinse the bathtub before using it to remove all bleach.
