How to Find a Prenatal Doctor in My Area
Finding a doctor you trust to take care of both you and your baby while you are pregnant can take some time. Before you call the first doctor you see listed in the phone book, follow these steps to find a good doctor in your area that you are comfortable with.

1
Make a list of everything that is important to you in a prenatal doctor. Do you want to see the same person every doctor visit, or are you okay with seeing other doctors in the group? Is there a specific hospital you want to use when you deliver the baby? Do you want access to an on-call nurse to ask questions after hours? Do you have insurance that limits you to which practices you can visit?
-
2
Decide how far you are willing to travel to see your prenatal doctor. Using the Yellow Pages or a search engine, find all of the prenatal doctors in your area.

-
3
Call each doctor's office. Ask some of the questions from your list over the phone so you can trim down your list of doctors.
-
4
Make a short list of doctors you're interested in. Make an appointment with each one so you can talk to the doctors and decide who you want to see. Since this doctor is going to be with you through pregnancy, labor and delivery, you want to make sure you're comfortable with the doctor.
-
5
Decide which doctor best suits your needs, and set up your first prenatal appointment.
