A brisket is a piece of meat that came from the front end of a cow. It is often referred to as a corned beef brisket. Cooking briskets are ideal when cooking for a large group of people. Briskets are also economical because the left overs can be prepared in sandwiches or soups. If you plan on using a convection oven to cook your brisket, you will want to follow a few simple directions to keep it nice and moist.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 10 lb. brisket
  • Oven bag with twist tie
  • Knife
  • Baking pan
  1. Step 1

Preheat the convection oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Step 2

Rinse the brisket under cold water.

  3. Step 3

Set the brisket in a cooking bag with the fat side up. Twist the end of the bag before placing a twist tie around it.

  4. Step 4

Place the cooking bag in a baking pan and poke several holes in the top of the bag to let out steam.

  5. Step 5

Set the baking pan in the convection oven and cook for three hours. When the brisket is finished, wait 15 minutes before carving it so the juices can settle.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don't have a cooking bag, use a roasting pan with a lid. Do not remove the lid to check on the brisket while it is cooking. This will cause heat to escape and lower the temperature within the pan.
  • Peppercorns and cloves are great spices to use on a brisket. Rub them on right before the brisket is put into the oven.
  • Make sure your brisket reaches an internal temperature of 190 degrees F. If it doesn't, you need to cook it longer.
