How to Preserve Cut Flowers With Wax
Many people enjoy displaying fresh flowers in their home. Unfortunately, flowers are in season for only a few months out of the year and tend to die quickly once they are picked. You don't have to resort to displaying silk flowers or spending a lot of money and time to dry your flowers to preserve them; you can preserve flowers at home using paraffin wax to keep them looking fresh for display year-round. Things You'll Need
- Paraffin wax
- Pot
- Stove
- Cookie sheet
- Tin foil
- Parchment paper
- Flowers
- Tongs

Heat some paraffin wax in a pot on the stove to melt it. You will need to have enough melted paraffin wax to completely submerge each flower, so melt enough depending on how many flowers you are preserving and the size of the pot you are using.

Cover a cookie sheet with tin foil or parchment paper and set it aside.

Dip the flower into the paraffin wax to completely cover it. You can hold onto the stem with your fingers or use tongs if you wish. Remove the flower from the pot and shake off any excess wax.

Place the flower on the cookie sheet and repeat the dipping process with all remaining flowers. Arrange the flowers on the cookie sheet so they are not touching one another.

Put the cookie sheet in the refrigerator to allow the wax to harden. The hardening process will take about an hour. Once the wax has set, you can remove the flowers and display them in your home however you please.
