The Dirt Devil Envision is an upright vacuum cleaner with a roller brush powered by an electric motor and rubber drive belt. When the belt wears out or breaks, the roller cannot pick up dust and dirt as effectively. With a broken belt the roller will not turn at all. Replacement belts are available at vacuum cleaner repair shops and through Dirt Devil. Installing a new belt takes only a few minutes.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dirt Devil Envision
  • Replacement drive belt
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Unplug the Dirt Devil and turn it upside down so the bottom of the vacuum faces upward.

  2. Step 2

Remove the retainer screws holding the bottom plate in place.

  3. Step 3

Set aside the bottom plate and lift the roller brush out of the grooves holding it on both sides by pulling straight up.

  4. Step 4

Remove the old belt from the roller brush and discard.

  5. Step 5

Slip the new belt over the roller brush and hold it in place in the groove in-between the brush bristles.

  6. Step 6

Place the roller brush back in the vacuum by aligning both sides with the grooves in the underside of the Dirt Devil and pressing straight down into place.

  7. Step 7

Pull the belt over and onto the grooved drive wheel on the motor shaft.

  8. Step 8

Rotate the roller brush with your fingers to ensure the drive belt turns freely.

  9. Step 9

Replace the cover plate and reattach with the screws.
