1
Paint the ceiling and trim bright white. At the beach the sun is bright. Bright white represents the brightness of the sun. Tape off wall edges using painter's tape. Use newspaper and painter's tape to cover near by mirrors, tiles, walls etc. Use a paintbrush to fill in the edges. Use a roller and a tray to cover the open surface of the ceiling. Apply two coats for maximum brightness. Allow the first coat one hour to dry before applying the second.

2
Paint the walls tan. To give you bathroom the feel of the beach, use a gentle and warm shade of tan on all main walls. Tape off areas that should not be painted tan using newspaper and painter's tape. To avoid getting paint on the ceiling, use an edger on the walls. Roll it slowly to avoid slips. For best coverage, apply two coats. Allow one hour for the first coat to dry before applying the second.

Use a tape measure to measure the length and the width of the bathroom floor. Multiply the length by the width to find the number tiles you will need for your square footage. Remove all old flooring and clean the floor surface. Use a chalk line to snap a line from corner to corner. Make an X. Use the chalk lines as guides when laying the tile. The tile will be diagonal. This works well for small or awkward floor spaces. Lay out various shades of blue tiles. The blue tile represents the water. Lay whole tiles until you come to the edges.

4
Ready the mortar. Use a trawl to apply ¼ inch of mortar to the floor surface under the first tile. Lay the tile in the mortar sliding it gently into place. Pick up the second tile and apply the mortar to the floor surface. Lay the second tile. Insert tiles spacers ½ in from each corner edge of both tiles. Move on to the third tile, apply the mortar, lay the tile and insert the tile spacer. Do this until all whole tiles are laid. When you are done laying whole tiles you have to use the tape measure to measure the edge pieces. Measure each piece individually as they will not all be the same in a room that's not square. Use a wet saw to cut the tiles to size. Apply the mortar using the trawl and lay the edge pieces, inserting spacers ½ inch in from all edges. Allow to mortar to set for 24 hours.

5
Prepare the grout mix. Remove all tile spacers. Use a trawl to apply the grout over the entire surface of the floor. Fill in between all tiles. The grout is meant to go in the cracks between the tiles. Use a soft cloth to remove grout from the surface of the tile before it dries. Be careful not to wipe it out of the cracks when doing so. Allow the grout 24 hours to set before using floor.
