Many printers are allowed to become almsot worthless, because of a lack of organization. Throwing away the installation CD for a printer, is like throwing away the trunk key to a car you want to sell.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Do not throw away an installation CD for a printer. You will need the installation CD again, if you want to use this printer later with a different computer. Likewise, keeping the installation CD with the printer after the printer has been replaced with a newer model, will greatly increase your chances of selling it or giving it to a friend as a useful gift.

  2. Step 2

Do not throw away the power suplly to a printer that is being replaced. When replacing an old printer with a new one, store together the old printer, its installation CD, and its power supply.

  3. Step 3

Buying a used printer without having the correct installation CD and the power supply for that particular model number, will not likely be a worthwhile venture. The cost of special ordering a particular installation CD or power supply, may be higher than buying a new printer at the store, especially, if the new computer comes with ink cartridges and your discovery does not have ink cartridges.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keeping the old printer's power supply and installation CD, even if the printer was knocked off a desk and broken, may prove to be beneficial, if you run across the same model numbered printer at a yard sale.
