Drop Pounds with Fat Burning Foods

We all know about what foods are bad for us and make us fat. But are there any foods that will actually help us get thin? Let Mother Nature give you a hand in your weight loss efforts. Add these foods to your diet to burn fat and increase your metabolism today!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Spice up your diet! Start eating foods that are spicier than you normally would eat. Add some fiery jalapeños to your salad, or put a few drops of hot sauce in your soup. Capsaicin is the component of spicy foods that makes them so hot. It is a known metabolic booster and is also great for your circulatory health. Not to mention, capsaicin rich foods will raise your body temperature a bit, which will help you burn fat more efficiently.

  2. Step 2

Yogurt is an amazing food. There are so many great reasons to add yogurt to your diet that I could write an article on them alone. But how does yogurt help you burn fat and lose weight? Yogurt contains live and active cultures, which are essentially good bacteria that are helpful to your body. These cultures help break down the foods you eat and boost your immunity by keeping levels of bad bacteria in your digestive track at bay. New research suggests that these cultures may also reduce the amount of fat that is absorbed by your body.

  3. Step 3

Green tea has been getting praise for centuries now for its metabolic boosting abilities. EGCG is the component in green tea that raises your metabolic rate and helps you to burn fat. It’s now easier than ever to add green tea to your diet. There are so many green tea products in many different flavors.

  4. Step 4

Caffeine may get a bad rap these days, but in moderation caffeine is a proven metabolic booster. As long as you are a healthy adult, two cups of coffee a day is perfectly fine and will give your body the boost it needs to burn off that fat. If you suffer from any disease such as cardiovascular disease, hyperthyroidism or have high blood pressure, consult your doctor before adding caffeine to your diet.

  5. Step 5

Cinnamon is stirring up a lot of hype these days about its ability to control blood sugar spikes. In clinical studies, adding 1 tsp of cinnamon to a small bowl of rice pudding lowered the post meal blood sugar spike. The theory is that cinnamon slows the digestion of food from the stomach to the intestines. The studies showed that participants who consumed the cinnamon had a much slower rate of “gastric emptying”. To add this powerful super food to your weight loss plan you need to make sure you’re actually buying 100% fresh cinnamon. You can get it in powder or in sticks. You don’t want to buy cinnamon sugar because the amount of extra sugar you would be adding to your foods would counteract the benefits.

on 11/12/2009 I knew yogurt was good for you, but I didn't know the bacteria helped keep you from absorbing too much fat. Thanks for that!
