There is so much to do with the Christmas cards we all receive every year that it boggles the mind how they could just end up in the trash. There is a lot of life left in a Christmas card to just be tossed aside so easily. Recycling and repurposing your Christmas cards allows you to participate in a green way of living.

It is a great frugal activity that promotes a more simple way of life when people were not so concerned about how much was being spent on ornaments. The act of creating your own somehow calls back to those simple times.

Things You'll Need:

Christmas cards
Scissors
Hole Punch
Ribbon or yarn

Step 1

Lay out Christmas cards and look at them to see what parts can be made into ornaments.
Step 2

Recycle Christmas Cards Into Homemade Christmas Tree Ornaments

Cut out parts of the card in different shapes and sizes to create interesting pieces.
Step 3

Recycle Christmas Cards Into Homemade Christmas Tree Ornaments

Using a hole punch, create a hole where you can insert ribbon or yarn that will be used to hang the ornament.

Tips & Warnings

Once you have all the shapes you need for ornaments, check the rest of the card to see if it can be utilized for anything else such as my articles on bookmarks or gift tags.
If there are no other purposes that can be used after you cut your ornaments out, use the hole punch to create confetti.
