Bartering is probably one of the oldest forms of trade going back to almost the days when the pioneers first settled in this country, and even further back than that going back to biblical days. If you think about it we barter everyday, the dictionary describes bartering as trading one thing of value for another.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make a list of what you have to offer, such as skill, goods or services. This is the first step in the process of bartering.

  2. Step 2

Know what your service or goods are worth. Knowing the value of your service or goods being swapped and being prepared to bargain, being as specific as to what you are offering and what you will get in return.

  3. Step 3

Locate other barterers through newspaper ads, shopping magazines or online.

  4. Step 4

Post a notice in your supermarket, coffee shops, Laundromats, and any other place that will allow you to post a public notice.

  5. Step 5

Join a bartering club or indirect exchange club. Remember that some of these clubs require you to pay a membership fee. Do your leg work here and find a club that is best suited to the services or goods you have to offer and what others have to offer.
