Fly into Vegas at a low price.

Airfares are constantly changing, but as fossil fuel prices have increased, so have the cost of plane tickets. People used to rely on travel agents to book flights for them, but with the power of the Internet, finding cheap flights to Las Vegas or any other destination is as easy as knowing where to look and punching in a few dates. However, some other tricks will guarantee you the best price each time you search.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide when you want to go to Las Vegas. Try to be flexible on your dates. The greater the flexibility you have, the easier it will be for you to find a cheap flight.

    • 2

Be prepared to book your flight as early as possible. In most cases, airlines tickets will be cheaper months in advance and become increasingly expensive as the flight dates loom. If you want to fly to Vegas in January but book your flight in September, the tickets will cost less than if you book your flight in December.

Log onto the Internet and navigate to Kayak.com. Select "Flights." Enter where you are flying from, and enter Las Vegas as your destination. Click on "My Dates are Flexible" and enter the largest range of dates that you can. Hit "Search" and wait for the results to come up. Then purchase any tickets you find that you like. Perform similar searches at Orbitz, Travelocity and Priceline to compare costs. However, Kayak allows you to run concurrent searches where you can compare prices with those of these sites.

Find out which airlines fly from your hometown airport. Sites such as Kayak, Travelocity and Orbitz do not include all airlines. As of 2011, you have to book tickets on JetBlue and Southwest on their respective home pages. Check those pages also before confirming your ticket elsewhere.

Tips & Warnings

  • Most cheap tickets carry many restrictions. Airlines will charge you to make changes or to cancel them, for example.
