This halloween I tried a little experiment of using what I had in the kitchen to make bloody guts. It worked so well and I got such a cheap thrill out of it I wanted to share it with you. From my simple instructions you can make some bloody guts for halloween or for other parties you may have and get a laugh.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • bowl
  • flour
  • cornstarch
  • hot water
  • red food coloring
  • rubber eye balls
  • rubber rats
  1. Step 1

First, decide how you want to use your bloody guts. Do you want to leave them out for the trick or treaters with candy mixed within the bloody guts in bowl, napkins on the side and a sign that reads: "Grab if you dare, candy in bloody guts"? This has proved to be a really fun Halloween by doing this.
Perhaps you'd like to use the bloody guts at a party and have the guests be blindfolded and dip their unsuspecting hands in and try to guess what they grabbed. The possibilities in using the bloody guts are endless.

  2. Step 2

Now that you know what you are going to do with your guts it is time to make it. Start boiling a small pot of water and get out your bowl and a mixing spoon and set it out ready for use.

  3. Step 3

The measurements will depend on the size of the bowl you will be using so start with a cup of cornstarch. Put the cup of cornstarch in the bowl and pour your boiling (now slightly cooled) water in it. Only put enough water so that you still have some solidity to your mixture. The cornstarch gives it the lumpy effect.

  4. Step 4

Next add a cup of all purpose flour to the mix (works as a filler). Stir around and add more water until necessary. Continue this process of cornstarch and flour until you have a gooey slightly lumpy substance.
If you just use flour and water, the mix will be too much like glue so the mix with the cornstarch works best.

  5. Step 5

Add you red food coloring. Once again the redness of the mixture and or how big the bowl you are using is up to you so there are no exact measurements. I like my bloody guts super red so I pretty much used up the bottle of food coloring. Mix the mixture and as long as it is warm you can pour it into your bowl that you will use to serve but wait till after the next step.

  6. Step 6

Now put candy or whatever else you want to use in the empty bowl. This can be rubber rats, eyeballs, whatever you want. Then pour the mix on top of the stuff. Keep layering it in this way until you have just the top of the mix to decorate. Float some rubber rats and eyeballs on the top to make is extra yucky and you're done.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can experiment with the colors. I just used red because I wanted it to look bloody and gross.
  • If you are ready to throw the mix away and want to fish out the stuff you put in it, just add more boiling water to liquify it more and then fish it out.
  • Once you are ready to dispose of the mix, dispose of it in the trash and not your sink 'cause the paste can harden in your pipes.
