1
Download DivFix++ from the link in the "Resources" section of this article. Unzip the file to the folder of your choice; it does not require installation. Double-click the extracted file to open the program.
-
2
Click the "Add Files" button, and browse to the broken AVI file. Double-click it.
-
-
3
Remove the check marks from the "Keep Original File" and "Cut Out Bad Parts" boxes if your file plays but does not allow random seeking, and then click the "Strip Index" button. You should now be able to seek randomly through your file. If the problem is that the video does not play at all or plays with video corruption, skip this step.
-
4
Check the box labeled "Keep Original File" if you would like to compare the fixed video with the original one to confirm that the result is an improvement.
-
5
Check the box labeled "Cut Out Bad Parts" if you would like sections of the video with severe corruption to be stripped completely. Otherwise, remove the check from the box.
-
6
Click the "Fix" button to repair the broken AVI file. Note that for very large files, this operation may require several minutes to complete.
